Area Land Conservancy has been created by concerned local citizens
who envision a more responsible use of Norman's land and natural resources.
The 189 square miles in Norman's corporate limits offer contrasting
landscapes of Cross Timbers woodlands and the grasslands of Ten
Mile Flat. They include extensive wildlife habitat throughout the
corridors of the Canadian and Little Rivers, plus well-developed
urban areas. Lake Thunderbird, with its park and trail system, is
a major recreation resource, as well as a source of the city's water
supply.

The Conservancy seeks to enhance the quality of life in Norman so that all may enjoy the many benefits of both its urban and rural spaces.
The Conservancy focuses on the wise use of the land and its natural
resources so that Norman's remarkable heritage may be preserved
for both present and future generations.
The
Norman Area Land Conservancy is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation
organized to assist in implementing long-term environmental objectives.
A citizen Greenbelt Task Force was appointed by the Norman City
Council to prepare a greenbelt plan for inclusion in the Norman
2020 Plan. This Public plan will guide the work of The Conservancy.
